Yes, you read that right. If you remember earlier this year, Besame Mucho Los Angeles 2024 was set to take place on Saturday December 21st. Panteón Rococó, a Mexico City Ska band or also categorized as Rock en Español, were part of the festival but it was unfortunately canceled a few days before Thanksgiving. However, on Black Friday, Panteón Rococó announced that they will be performing at The Observatory Orange County the night of the festival! Seeing this was awesome because it means that they didn't want to waste a date! The cosmos aligned with the venue & the band to still give SoCal fans an amazing show!
Upon arriving at the venue, the atmosphere was ready for Panteón Rococó. There were long lines at the bar & the space was already full. Come showtime, their intro tape rolled in which is a funky, 70s cop/detective type of tune. Is it from a movie or TV show? I have a feeling like it's from somewhere. But anyways, Panteón Rococó rolled onto the stage 1 by 1. The fans were getting louder as each member made their way to their instrument, 11 total. 3 horns, 3 percussion, 3 strings, 1 keys & frontman Dr. Shenka with his powerful voice. The drums kicked off the party & the desmadre was in full effect! Wild fans going nuts in the slam & beer getting tossed in all directions!
Songs like Arréglame el Alma, Esta Noche, my personal favorite La Dosis Perfecta, Acábame de Matar with the tribute intro to Banda El Recodo, classic Viernes de Webeo & the epic hit of La Carencia all made the set list! These & many more that added close to a 2 hour set, had Santa Ana California from wall to wall all night! Panteón Rococó made everyone in the building sing, chant, dance & ultimately have fun. It was truly a special night & all us fans are so glad & appreciative that the band were still down to perform on a cancelled night!
Every musician here is absolutely talented & gave it 110 percent. Especially interacting with the crowd like Don Gorri did by jumping into the fans at the front! If you haven't seen Panteón Rococó, then please do so next year. 2025 marks their 30th anniversary so something big is going to be revealed for sure. Be on the lookout for that & it was an honor to cover Panteón Rococó’s final show of 2024! This concludes the “Esta Noche U.S.A. Tour.”
