Maggie Rogers starts her tour for the album “Don’t Forget Me” in San Diego’s iconic Petco Park. From the moment Maggie ascended onto the stage from below like magic, adorned in a flowing dress that complimented the fog and wind from the San Diego outdoor venue. A massive screen behind her with mesmerizing visuals, served as a canvas for her artistry, amplifying the album and vibe of the music.
As she dived into her repertoire, it was evident that every lyric struck a chord within the crowd. The infectious energy of catchy guitar and drum riffs permeated the air, compelling feet to bounce and heads to nod in unison. The funky bass beats added a groove that was impossible to resist.
When the familiar notes of "Love You For A Long Time" filled the stadium, the crowd erupted into a chorus of voices, singing along with the memorable song that echoed through Petco Park. And who could forget the playful interaction facilitated by Maggie Rogers' media team, capturing candid moments like a live kiss cam that added a touch of intimacy to the of the event while making a nod to kiss cams at live games performed in the same venue.
As Maggie Rogers poured her heart into soulful piano ballads, the audience hushed, hanging onto every note, a testament to the profound connection between artist and fan that you don’t see much at concerts any more. Then came the magical moment during "Light On", when the entire venue was bathed in the soft glow of hundreds of phone flashlights, illuminating the night sky like a constellation.
The synchronized imagery on the screen, mirroring the themes of each song, served as a visual counterpart to Rogers' melodies, enhancing the overall experience with following the albums and setting the mood for each moment. Maggie closed out the night and turned me from someone who knew few hits into someone who has dived into older and newest album head first. Her performance of specifically “Drunk” has hung with me. Go see Maggie Rogers while you can! This tour is a must hit.
