Clairo’s Charm Tour at The Rady Shell in San Diego was a dreamy and reflective night by the waterfront, framed by the city’s skyline and the cool ocean air. Opening the evening was Alice Phoebe Lou, whose ethereal set—including a mesmerizing performance of "Witches"—created an intimate atmosphere that set the tone perfectly for Clairo’s emotionally resonant show.
Clairo took the stage with her bandmates in a unique fashion, gathering in a semicircle and having a drink as a group before beginning to play "Nomad", captivating the audience with her tender vocals and understated presence. The setlist offered a thoughtful mix of songs from her recent album, Charm, as well as fan-favorite tracks that spanned her career. While she cheekily refused to perform mega TikTok hit "Sofia," jokingly teasing the crowd’s eager requests, she more than made up for it with renditions of hits like "Bags" and "Amoeba." Both tracks showcased her ability to blend poignant lyrics with lush, textured instrumentation, drawing the crowd into the emotional landscape of her music.
Throughout the night, Clairo effortlessly balanced moments of quiet introspection with bursts of energy. Songs like "Thank You" and "Sexy to Someone" got everyone dancing, while "Flaming Hot Cheetos" carried a sense of nostalgia, recalling the lo-fi roots that first brought her to prominence. The stage’s subtle lighting and nature-inspired visuals enhanced the evening's dreamy feel, as Clairo’s soft yet powerful voice echoed across the open-air venue.
The Rady Shell’s unique setting amplified the night’s magic, as Clairo’s music seemed to float over the water, creating a sense of shared reverie. It was a performance that felt intimate despite the outdoor setting, proving once again her talent for connecting deeply with her audience, even in the largest of spaces.
